The 2020 EPA convention, which was to take place in Colorado Springs in April, has been canceled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus and will not be rescheduled.
Here are answers to 6 questions you may be asking:
Will there be an EPA convention in 2020?
No, EPA will not hold a convention in 2020.
How we will find out about the awards?
A Facebook Live (from Nashville) Watch Party will be presented in mid April. Join the private EPA Facebook group to watch. Your entire staff can watch together. Details to be announced.
What’s in store for the EPA convention in 2021?
The 2021 convention will be held in Lancaster, PA, on April 28-30, 2021. Mark your calendar now. The convention's title sponsor is Museum of the Bible and an optional free bus day trip to Washington, D.C., is in the works for a tour of the museum.
What about refunds of registration fees already paid?
Of course, refunds will be available. There are three options:
- Full refund upon request. Refunds will be processed beginning April 1.
- Have your registration fee transferred and applied to the 2021 convention in Lancaster, PA (then you won't need to budget it for next year).
- Or, if you are able, you may waive the refund and allow us to apply it as a donation to EPA to help offset EPA's significant loss in income for this year. For that we would be very grateful.
Please email the Executive Director with what you would like to do (refund, transfer, or donate). It would be helpful for group registrations to give instructions for each person in the group in a single email.
What about a virtual conference?
We will be working on selecting a few sessions that could work well as webinars and present them at some time in the future.
Is EPA financially stable enough to weather this storm?
Thankfully, we can say yes. The convention is our second-highest revenue source behind membership dues so, needless to say, we will suffer a significant loss for this fiscal year which ends June 30. The reserves are strong enough to offset that loss, but it will deplete the reserves well below the balance we strive to maintain. Contributions will be greatly appreciated. Donate to the General Fund online now.
What else do you want to know?
Send an email to the Executive Director and ask. We look forward to seeing you in Lancaster next year.
