EPA Member to Speak in Ukraine at Journalism Conference

KLAIPEDA, LITHUANIA — EPA member Michael Ray Smith will speak at the Novomedia Forum Nov. 1-2 in Kyiv, (Kiev) Ukraine. Smith will speak on conducting hard-to-get interviews.

In addition to speaking, Smith will represent The Media Project, an international organization that unites journalists, particularly reporters of faith. TMP recruits students and journalists to engage in the journalism program at the King’s College, Wall Street, NYC., a place where Smith worked as Distinguished Visiting Professor in 2006.

These days Smith is the Distinguished Visiting Professor of journalism at LCC International University in Klaipeda. LCC attracts students from more than 50 countries to study communication, business, theology and other topics. Smith also serves on the board of Magazine Training International, an EPA partner and affiliate member.

Smith’s work has taken him across the country and around the world. He worked at a number of mainstream newspapers including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where the organization with which he worked pioneered videotext, which is now online newspapers. He’s taught at a number of universities and spoken in Manila, Nairobi and other venues.
