Trouten, who founded the Fellowship of Christian Newspapers, said, "The work being done by regional Christian newspapers continues to improve. Christian newspapers are built on the community newspaper model, but serve an audience that is defined by faith as well as by geography. These publications fill an important niche, covering local news in a way that national Christian magazines can't, and providing a Christian perspective that local secular newspapers won't. A lot of good work is being done in this industry, and it's great to see that work recognized.”
