Membership Types
Publication Membership
At its core, EPA is an association of print and digital periodicals (magazines, newspapers, newsletters, e-zines, blogs, content-rich websites, etc.). Full membership is available to publications (which publish at least two issues a year) and content-rich websites that provide a combination of such elements as news, editorial matter, and feature articles of responsible and substantial content. They must be serious journalistic efforts published to serve readers by enlarging their understanding of the Christian faith.
Individual Membership
Individual membership is for professionals involved in the Christian communications industry, such as freelancers—editors, writers, designers, and photographers—who are not otherwise on the staff of a member publication, as well as bloggers, podcasters, digital creators, and others with established, active platforms in Christian communications. Individual members are required to endorse the statement of faith and Code of Ethics.
Student Membership
Membership may be granted to students in journalism or communications-related programs while enrolled full-time in undergraduate or graduate studies. Student members are required to endorse the statement of faith and Code of Ethics. Student members are not eligible for board positions and do not hold voting privileges.
Contributor Membership
This membership level is for individuals who make a financial contribution to EPA of $25 or more each calendar year. This affiliation is for those who desire to be involved with EPA but are not on the staff of a member publication and have no professional need to be an associate member. Contributors are able to access the member section of the website and will receive all EPA member communications. Contributors are not required to endorse the statement of faith or Code of Ethics; neither do they hold voting privileges.
Affiliate
Affiliations are for businesses and organizations, such as vendors and public relations firms, that are interested in the cause of Christian periodical publishing or are involved with our industry but do not publish a qualifying publication, or are not otherwise eligible for membership. Affiliates are not required to endorse the statement of faith or Code of Ethics; neither do they hold voting privileges.
