Board Announces Results of Vote on Name Change
Letter from EPA President
With the voting now closed, the membership has approved Christian Communicators Network as our organization’s new name. Of the 244 ballots cast, 57% voted for the change while 42% voted to retain Evangelical Press Association. One percent abstained.
The Board is grateful for every member who participated. The discussion reflected the care our members have for this organization, its evangelical identity, its rich heritage, and its future.
The Board of Directors is confident this is the right direction. Let me be clear: the evangelical convictions, Statement of Faith, membership standards, Code of Ethics and commitment to our journalistic legacy remain unchanged.
As we emphasized during our membership meeting, the adoption of a new name does not guarantee a new future.
Christian Communicators Network will prosper only if its members invest themselves in securing that future. Our new name may open doors, but members must pass through them. We may reach new and younger individuals in our industry, but it will take your personal invitations, convention participation, mentoring, and active engagement to turn those opportunities into reality.
That challenge belongs not to the few, but to all of us. While the vote has provided us a new direction, it has not relieved us of the responsibility to help shape our future.
To those who did not vote for the change, please know that your involvement remains essential. The decision was never about abandoning our heritage but about carrying that heritage into a broader and rapidly changing communications landscape.
Most importantly, the question before us now is what each of us is willing to do to help move our organization forward. We have an opportunity to transform convictions on both sides of the vote into a renewed commitment to participation, engagement, and growth.
The name has changed but the mission remains steadfast. Our heritage provides the foundation, our vision points the way, and our collective commitment will determine the future.
Now the work truly begins.
With appreciation,

Dwight Widaman
President
